Job Summary

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity is a small charity with big ambitions. We support brain tumour patients and families across Yorkshire and fund pioneering research in our region.

Every pound raised helps bring us closer to a cure for brain tumours and ensures families across Yorkshire feel supported when they need it most.

We are now looking for a passionate and proactive Community Fundraiser to help grow and strengthen our grassroots fundraising across Yorkshire.

​

This is a fantastic opportunity to build meaningful relationships with individuals, families, organisations, and local groups - inspiring communities to support our work and ensuring every supporter feels valued and connected to our cause.

You will play a key role in developing community fundraising income, delivering events and campaigns, and providing exceptional support to those fundraising in aid of YBTC.

​

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and growing community fundraising at YBTC. You will have the freedom and flexibility to bring new ideas, build meaningful relationships, and see the direct impact of your work. As the organisation continues to grow, there will be opportunities to develop and progress within the fundraising team and wider charity.

Salary:

£27,000 – £29,000 (depending on experience)

 

Hours:

Full-time (flexible and hybrid working – we are open to conversations about how this role works best for you)

Hybrid – home, office and community-based across Yorkshire

Key Responsibilities:

Community Fundraising & Relationship Management

  • Develop and grow income from community fundraising activities across Yorkshire

  • Build strong relationships with individual supporters, families, schools, community groups and local organisations

  • Support and steward fundraisers taking part in challenges, events and in-memory fundraising

  • Deliver an excellent supporter experience, ensuring all fundraisers feel valued, supported and motivated

  • Develop a pipeline of repeat supporters and long-term community advocates

 

Events, Campaigns & Engagement:

  • Plan and deliver community fundraising campaigns and events across the region

  • Support the promotion and delivery of the charity’s fundraising activities (e.g. runs, walks, challenges, DIY fundraising)

  • Attend community events, cheque presentations and supporter activities

  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure strong promotion of fundraising opportunities

 

Volunteer & Ambassador Support:

  • Recruit, support and retain volunteer fundraisers and community ambassadors

  • Coordinate fundraising materials (collection tins, merchandise, event resources)

  • Empower volunteers to represent the charity confidently within their communities

 

Supporter Experience & Storytelling:

  • Capture and share supporter stories to celebrate impact and inspire others

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute content for social media, newsletters and website

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality communication with supporters

 

Income Growth & Monitoring:

  • Support the development of new community fundraising products and ideas

  • Monitor and report on fundraising activity and income

  • Contribute to achieving team income targets and objectives

 

Other:

  • Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with relevant regulations and best practice (including the Fundraising Code of Practice)

  • Attend team meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative culture

  • Undertake occasional evening/weekend work to support events and fundraisers

 

Person Specification:

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working with people in a relationship-based role (fundraising, sales, community engagement or similar)

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage others

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in community fundraising or the charity sector

  • Experience supporting events or campaigns

  • Experience working with volunteers

  • Knowledge of CRM systems

 

Personal Attributes:

  • Passionate about supporting people affected by serious illness

  • Warm, approachable and confident working with a wide range of people

  • Proactive with a “can-do” attitude

  • Emotionally intelligent and able to work sensitively with families

  • Creative and motivated to grow income and engagement

  • Flexible and willing to travel across Yorkshire

 

Other Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

 

 

About Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity:

Founded in 2003, Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity provides vital support to brain tumour patients and their loved ones, whilst also funding innovative clinical research in our region.

 

We fund innovative research and provide vital support to patients and families across the region. Around 15 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour in Yorkshire every week.

We will improve the lives of people impacted by a brain tumour in Yorkshire, through local support and research.
