Resources

Here at YBTC we're able to give you various resources, from guides to children's books, to help you navigate tricky conversations as a family.
Wanting to protect children from difficult news, worry and distress is completely natural.

You may feel it will bring home the reality of the situation, when you are still struggling to come to terms with it yourself. But not explaining what is happening may make them feel more vulnerable.

Children often know when something serious is affecting the family and people they are close to. It is important to give them the chance to talk openly about their worries and fears.

Here at YBTC we have a range of resources that we can send to you that may help you open up discussions, like the book Toby the Teapot has a Broken Lid, which explores the theme of a parent who has a brain tumour for younger children.

Our peer support and family events are also a way for you to speak to other parents who are going through a similar experience which you may find really helpful.

Our team are also here to offer you the support you need. To find out more, please call us on 0113 340 0111 or email support@yorksbtc.org.uk.
