1-2-1 Peer Support

Do you ever feel like no-one else really understands what you’re going through?

We have a team of amazing peer support volunteers who’ve had a range of similar experiences – from caregivers to those managing a diagnosis themselves. These volunteers can provide a deeper level of understanding, share experiences, and provide practical advice to anyone experiencing the trauma a brain tumour diagnosis can bring (whether it be first-hand or through supporting a loved one).

Don’t feel like chatting some weeks? No problem. Our peer support volunteers understand the up and down journey of a diagnosis and will work with you flexibly to suit your circumstances. Our trained Support Services Officer will oversee the relationship to ensure it’s working for both of you.

What next?

If you’d like to discuss this further, please email ybtcsupport@yorksbtc.org.uk or call 0113 511 8111. You’ll be contacted by our Support Services Officer who will ask you some questions to pair you with the right person.

"No-one can really understand what you are going through unless they have experienced it themselves. Having the chance to talk to other people who really "get it" has been just what I needed. You don't have to explain yourself; they just know", (Peer support client).
