Jenny and her family first heard about the Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity after her dad Dennis was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour in 2020. The team at YBTC supported Jenny's family during Dennis's illness providing both practical and emotional support, every step of the way. After Dennis sadly lost his battle with the disease in 2022, Jenny offered to become a Volunteer Marketing Ambassador in memory of her dad.
Jenny has two young boys Jack and Charlie and is currently Brand Director for Lead Talent Management Consultancy based outside Wetherby. Jenny is looking forward to putting her 20+ years of skills and experience in brand, marketing and events to good use in helping the YBTC in their critical work.
Jenny told us, "Sadly, most people know someone who has been touched by a brain tumour, which is no surprise given brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40...yet only 2% of national funding is allocated to fighting it in our region.
This week alone 15 people's lives will be devastated in Yorkshire following a primary brain tumour diagnosis. I've seen and felt the devastation this brings to individuals and their families first-hand and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
I want to help change this heart-breaking story by supporting YBTC with its incredible work. Not only do the team provide support to those individuals and families affected by this horrific disease but they also help raise the funds needed to fight the disease head-on through critical research undertaken by experts in our region.
Unfortunately, the crucial funds needed to continue their vital work are under threat as donors face spiralling energy bills and a cost-of-living crisis. Now more than ever YBTC need the people of Yorkshire's help to bridge the recent reduction in donations so they can continue with their vital work."
