We’re taking part in the 2.6 challenge!

Thu 23 April

The Covid-19 pandemic is having a catastrophic effect on UK charities leading to an estimated loss of £4 billion for the sector. We’ve teamed up with nationwide fundraising campaign The 2.6 challenge to help save the UK’s charities.

Charities like Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity depend on income from fundraising events and thousands have been cancelled or postponed including our Run for All 10K’s, Total Warrior and the London Marathon.
We have lost 97% of our income since lockdown began.

In response, the UK’s mass participation sports event industry has come together to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign to Save the UK’s Charities. We’re inviting you to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity. It would be wonderful to have your support.

The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like – from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends.

Whatever your age or ability, you can take part. After all, we’re not looking for superheroes. We’re looking for Home Heroes.

***Some of our amazing supporters have signed up to their own challenges***

Christine is walking 2.6miles for 6 days with her dog Raffy!

Liv & Michelle are doing 26 yoga poses over the next 26 days!

Kate is undertaking a huge challenge this Sunday too (see picture below)!

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Choose your #TwoPointSixChallenge (see our new A-Z of fundraising ideas below)
  • Head to the 2.6 challenge website at https://www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk
  • Click the ‘donate or fundraise’ buttons to save Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity as your chosen charity
  • Complete your challenge
  • Share pictures and videos of you completing your challenge using the #TwoPointSixChallenge hashtag.

The 2.6 Challenge starts on Sunday 26 April which would have been the biggest fundraising day of the year thanks to the London Marathon, the world’s biggest one day fundraising event which raised £66.4 million for charities in 2019. You can choose to run your challenge over a longer period of time to suit you.

If you have any questions head to the 2.6 challenge website or contact us at info@yorksbtc.org.uk.
