Well done to our Total Warriors

Well done to our Total Warriors

Fri 01 July

On Saturday 25th June, several teams bravely took on this tough challenge to raise funds for YBTC.
We want to say a big congratulations from everyone here at YBTC to the teams who completed Total Warrior last weekend!
It was a fun-packed day where our brave 'warriors' took on a 12km route filled with 25 challenging obstacles, 10 tonnes of ice and 100 tonnes of mud, to enjoy the well-deserved free beer at the end of the course.
Team Oulton Hall

One of the teams which took part was comprised of Mark Illingworth, General Manager at Oulton Hall Hotel in Leeds, his wife Aurelija and friends.
Mark said: "I had the pleasure of meeting Marie Peacock and Jen Aspinall at Oulton Hall to discuss an event they planned to hold. I was impressed with their dedication, passion and support and was extremely keen to get involved. When my wife Aurelija was eager to get involved in the Total Warrior event in Leeds, we saw it as a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the work done by the team at your charity. Also, an ideal opportunity to build a long-term relationship and, above all, a partnership where you will become Oulton Hall’s charity."
Mark’s wife had a very personal reason why she wanted to take on Total Warrior. Aurelija said: “I used to work at a school, and sadly we lost a year 9 student to a brain tumour. His name was Timothy Hindle and he would have been 16 years old this year. My colleagues do fundraising events every year and I always wanted to do something to his memory. Tim’s mum is very supportive and was happy to hear that Tim isn’t forgotten and people still remember him."

Team Holbeck Moor JFC

Chris Gamble is one of the founders of Holbeck Moor Junior Football Club.
He and his fellow coaches decided to take on Total Warrior to raise funds to support the club, as well as the club's four charity partners.
We're proud to have been chosen by Chris as one of the partner charities, in memory of his colleague and friend Asiya.
Chris said: "I chose to fundraise for YBTC as sadly last April, I lost one of my closest friends to a brain tumour at just the age of 33. Before she passed away we did a lot of fundraising together for many different charities and raised over £10k together. When I discussed things with her before she passed away she advised me she wanted to fundraise for YBTC. Unfortunately she never got that opportunity, so I promised her I would do just that for her. Along with support from former colleagues and Asiya’s husband Gibran, we have raised a lot of money so far. Holbeck Moor JFC have chosen YBTC as one of our charity partners so we can continue to raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity."

We're proud of the 11 brave people (plus our Active Events Coordinator Kate Halsall!) who bought YBTC's tickets for the event and raced to raise funds for our charity.
