We want to say a huge well done and thank you to our supporter, Roger, who took on the challenge of walking 100 miles in a month, just one year after his brain tumour diagnosis.
Here he is, pictured with his YBTC walking medal and certificate for completing his challenge. So far, Roger has raised over £2,000!
He told us:
"On 16th November 2021 I experienced a medical incident that led to the discovery of a fast-growing brain tumour known as a glioblastoma. On 20th December a team of neuro-consultants performed an awake craniotomy, and, incredibly, I was allowed home the next day just in time to celebrate Christmas 2021 with my wife and family.
"From the onset, I decided to be positive about the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis and see it as an opportunity to get on with life. One year on, after surgery, a course of combined radiotherapy/chemotherapy and continuing ongoing cycles of chemotherapy to keep the tumour at bay, I'm still here!
"I decided to support YBTC by walking 100 miles, by taking a number of short walks over 34 days beginning on 16th November 2022 and finishing on 20th December 2022. These dates mark a significant milestone since the initial diagnosis of my tumour.
"Family and friends joined me on my short walks, which varied based on my treatment, day-to-day changing health and general good feeling.
"We are donating all funds raised to Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity – please support this worthy cause if you can."
Well done Roger! We're so grateful for your support!
