What to expect
The group will take place on the first Tuesday of every month from 6.30-8pm, with the first session coming soon on Tuesday 1st June.
The group will be a safe space for patients with both low- and high-grade brain tumours, as well as their carers, family members and loved ones. It's for anyone
living across South Yorkshire or being cared for at the
Royal Hallamshire Hospital or
Weston Park Hospital.
Whoever you are, and wherever you are in your patient journey, you're welcome to come along to speak with others going through a similar experience, share stories, ask questions or just chat.
Led by Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity’s experienced counsellors, the sessions will be an opportunity to connect, socialise and get support from people who really understand. It will be an informal group, and because it's taking place online, anyone can join from the comfort of their own home. YBTC is happy to help anyone who needs support to access the technology by running practice sessions.
How to join
To join the group, patients can call
0114 299 1820 or email
support@yorksbtc.org.uk. Alternatively they can speak to their Neuro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist who'll be able to provide more information.
There'll also be a new Sheffield-based in-person support group in the near future; to stay in the loop, visit the
Sheffield Support Group page here.
