She is raising money in memory of Cara, the 11-year-old daughter of one of her clients. Devastatingly Cara unexpectedly passed away on 29 December 2019. She was due to have surgery this January but sadly never made it. Cara had a low-grade brain tumour which was diagnosed in August 2018.
In her own words, this is why running 26.2 miles for BTRS means so much to Jennie.
“Cara will never get to run anything, never mind a marathon, but I can & I want it to mean something more than just running 26.2 miles, I want it to make a difference to others not just me. My client was trying to raise funds for BTRS and I knew I could help by choosing them as my charity of choice for the London marathon.
“My training is tough on both the body and the mind, and I've reached 16 miles so far. I’m building up by two miles each week.
“Raising money for BTRS means families like my Cara's can get help and support in a time of great need. Which knowing what they've gone through is so important.
“Right now, I'm just focusing on covering the miles and raising as much as I possibly can. Friends are coming top support me in London, so I would imagine good food and a drink or two with them will be how I'll celebrate crossing the line.”
