We are very excited about this as we are aware that historically, the majority of the counselling we have provided over the years has tended to be to people living in and around the Leeds area, as that is where we are based.
We feel privileged to have been able support so many people over the years in the Leeds and surrounding areas, however one of our goals is to increase our offering to all parts of Yorkshire, and we are so excited to be able to now focus this valuable service within the Wakefield and Kirklees areas, as we know from feedback we receive from clinicians supporting brain tumour patients in these areas, that understandably they (and their families) have probably not felt up to, or able to travel to in to Leeds for face to face sessions.
The funding we have been granted from The Coalfields Regeneration Trust and One Community Kirklees has allowed us to take on an additional Counsellor, to specifically focus on these geographical areas.
Once the world returns to ‘normal’ we will be looking to offer ‘in person’ sessions at suitable locations based both in Wakefield and Kirklees.
In the meantime, we are offering remote counselling i.e. telephone, Zoom or WhatsApp, all of which are proven to be just as helpful for clients, throughout the whole of Yorkshire, and offers the added benefit of not having to travel for appointments.
