Hull Prison team tackle fundraising challenges

Tue 24 May

Colleagues at Hull Prison have taken on a series of challenges to raise funds in memory of their colleague, Andy Grier.
At the start of May, Melody Duke ran the Leeds Half Marathon to raise funds for YBTC in memory of her close friend and colleague, Andy "The Bear" Grier, who sadly passed away from a brain tumour in early 2022.

Melody raised over £1,390, an incredible amount that could fund over 23 counselling sessions for patients or carers.
Melody said: "The charity does an amazing job and if I can help just one family with some support then my job is done. I was unbelievably emotional throughout but what an amazing feeling to cross the finish line."

Not stopping there, in June, Melody and a group of her Hull Prison colleagues are planning to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise additional funds.

Gemma Smart, who has organised the climbing challenge, said: "We have all chosen to take on this challenge as Andy loved to walk everywhere, so it seemed the most appropriate. Andy has given support, guidance and love to everyone who is taking part.

"This is a way for all of us to give a little something back to a charity which sits close to his friends and family's hearts."
