Here in his own words, Geoff describes his increadible feat... "I will ride the equivalent height of Mount Everest (20,029 feet) in 14 consecutive days, cycling on hilly terrain between 50-70 miles every day, starting and ending each day in York. I am no climber, so the challenge will be tough, especially if the weather is poor! I would be most grateful of your sponsorship, to enable the battle against this dreadful form of cancer to continue." Here is a reaction to Geoff’s challenge from fellow cyclist, Simon Owen, who has helped us to devise The Big Bike Challenge this year and has been a keen participant of the BTRS Big Bike Ride for many years:
"Woah, that is amazing! I could wax lyrical about “Everesting”. Geoff is doing something that very few cyclists would do; climbing the height of Everest by riding 50-70 miles a day for 14 days on the run. No rest day for the fatigue to flush from his muscles as the miles and metres climbed add up. Not even the pro-riders we saw at the Tour de Yorkshire would do that! To put it into context, that is a minimum of 700 miles by bike in a fortnight; that is actually more than most people will drive in the same period!” Please help Geoff complete this incredible challenge - and reach his £700 fundraising total - by sponsoring him here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/geoff-medd.
