Janet Hadley has been supporting Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity for many years.
As well as fundraising in the community, Janet is a Tropic ambassador and kindly offers a kickback from some of the products she sells to YBTC.
She told us why she decided to get involved by selling Tropic skincare, and by organising a
Flat Cap Brew for Brain Tumour Awareness Month:
"I’m always on the lookout for ways to support YBTC. From the early days of my husband Ferg’s diagnosis, this has always been the charity that’s been recommended by everyone at the hospital.
"I remember very clearly telling the wonderful Mr Corns (who many of you will know as a top brain surgeon we are lucky enough to have right here in Leeds) that I felt really helpless. He suggested fundraising for YBTC and told me about the grounbreaking research that’s happening here at the University of Leeds. Fundraising has helped me to fulfil the desire to be part of the solution, if not in time for Fergus, then for others who receive this devastating diagnosis in the future.
"I was first introduced to Tropic Skincare when I mentioned to a friend that a patch of really dry skin on my elbow was bothering me. She recommended Tropic’s Tamanu Balm, a natural but powerful antiseptic, anti-fungal and super-charged moisturiser known as the ‘all round skin saviour’. I was really sceptical at first, but was soon blown away by how well it worked. I moved on to try the core skincare items (cleanser, toner, moisturiser) and before I knew it, I was recommending the products to everyone.
"It then occurred to me that I could sign up as a Tropic Ambassador and use the commission to raise money for YBTC. I’ve been doing this since October 2021 and have raised just over £230 so far. I love being able to combine my passion for these gorgeous products with my passion for fundraising.
"If you fancy trying out any of the products, you can join me at the
YBTC Dance-a-thon on Sunday 20
th March at The Holbeck in Leeds where I’ll have a stall. Alternatively, my Facebook page is @tropicfundraiser where you’ll find details of all the latest offers and promotions.
"A minimum of 10% of every sales value goes to YBTC, and I donate 100% of my profit to the charity.
"I’m really looking forward to hosting a Flat Cap and Brew Open House Day. It’s been so long since we’ve been able to have guests over, I’m throwing open the doors and inviting all my friends and family to drop in for a brew, a chat and, of course, a biscuit or two. I might even make a cake and some scones! It’s a really simple way to raise awareness of the charity, to raise money and to catch up with old friends."
