Team members at
Direct Line have been taking part in a wide range of fundraising challenges over the past few months, in memory of their colleague Asiya who sadly died from an aggressive brain tumour in April 2021.
After Asiya's devastating passing, her colleagues were inspired to launch their
"Mountain a Month" challenge; each month they will either tackle a mountain or walk the equivalent distance, all while raising funds for YBTC.

Here is what one team member,
Lucy, told us: "A dedicated group of us from the department went out in the rain and mist on Saturday 4th December to complete another walk in aid of Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity. We began at Bolton Abbey and walked approximately 8.5 miles up to Simon's Seat and back. Thankfully the weather improved and no one was lost in the mist!
"It was great to be joined by Gibran, Asiya's husband, for the walk and to raise more money for the charity. It was great for everyone to catch up again and see some faces that we haven't seen for over 20 months."
Asiya's husband
Gibran said: "It was a struggle for me as I'm not used to long walks or hikes but it was worth every step of the way and for such a great cause, I know Asiya would be so proud of us all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Asiya's colleagues and friends for organising it and to everyone who took part and supported us and donated."

They are already planning their next walk, and Direct Line team's great fundraising work doesn't stop there. Asiya's ex-colleague and close friend, Chris, recently organised a very successful
Christmas raffle, with prizes including signed Leeds United shirts and memorabilia.
Additionally, multiple Direct Line colleagues nominated YBTC as their chosen charity for the
DLG Force for Good initiative. After a difficult selection process, the company decided to award YBTC a £2,000 prize.
All in all, the team at Direct Line has already raised over £2,000 for YBTC, and that total is continually growing as they take on new monthly challenges. We cannot thank them enough for their incredible support for the charity.
